Help! Can't increase maximum upload size or allow certain filetypes.

    Hi

I have been trying to increase the maximum allowable file size from 50mb to 750mb so that we can upload some large files that would be very handy to have on sharepoint.

I have been in and changed the maximum file size to 750mb, but unfortunatly it hasn't worked and when I try to upload the files I get the error stating that the file is too large. I have also tried to increase the filesize in web.config as one of the support pages at microsoft suggested, it didn't work :-(

I have also been trying to upload some executable files, self extracting zips etc that are smaller than 50mb, I removed exe from the excluded file types but again when I try to upload an exe, i get a message saying that that file type has been disallowed.

Am i doing something blatantly stupid or has something gone wrong with my installation?

When you try to increase the max file upload size, have you selected the right web application? MOSS 2007 starts with, I think, 3 web apps by default. Make sure that you selected, from the little yellow rectangle in the upper right, the web application that you extended from. Most likely it is "Sharepoint - 80". After selecting it, go back to the Web application general settings and change the upload size and you should be good.

For the blocked files, again make sure you have the right app selected, then go to the "Operations" section. From there, click "Blocked File types", it should be in the first column, first section, and I think its the 3rd to last item in that section. That will bring up an editable text field that has all sorts of file extensions that are blocked. Search for the exe, zip, and whatever else and delete them, then click OK Smile
