Hello,

 I am in need of creating an approval workflow for my WSS3.0 site - I want it to behave exactly like the Approval workflow does in MOSS, but of course don't have it OTB since we have WSS. I have SharePoint Designer and have read and watched every resource I can find for workflow creation on the web. I even ordered the TechEd DVDs just because they speak to SP Designer on disk 6.

However, I cannot figure out how to make the Approval flow behave correctly, every workflow I make is not allowing the approvers to access the document and send it back to the initiator with changes, comments, etc. Also, my workflow does not seem to be collecting the approvers responses at all.

Is it not possible to create an approval workflow with SP Designer for WSS3.0? What am I doing wrong?

Not sure what you mean by this since in WSS you can turn on "approval" of document library items through the "versioning settings" options in the lists settings.  Have you tried this option yet?  This should give you the functionality you're looking for.

Sorry Angirankin, I know what you're looking for. I opened up SharePoint Designer just to play around with creating a similar workflow, but could not find a decent way to go about it. Let me know if you find your solution.

 Has anyone tried to utilize the sample approval workflow source code from MOSS and place on a WSS site?  If so, did it have the same functionality as the MOSS Version?

 Sounds like you are having difficulty with the logic of your workflows. Have you tried reading the SPD Office Online documents regarding workflows? Here is the introduction and here is the list of all of the workflow documents. This isn't a solution, but hopefully a step in the right direction.

Can anyone please let me know the action and condition for creating workflow that does the following:

From the task list- I want to generate mail daily to the owner(around evening-4.30 PM EST) till the project status is set to complete to update the status.

Could you please let me know the steps too.

I have staus field and owner field in my list.
