    SSL Question / Problem

Hey guys, hopefully someone can help with this... Driving me nuts... Ok, I have a site which is already setup and live. My users are using it... Now I want to setup SSL on this site.... So I setup a test site first and things look fine.... People who visit the https get in fine. But since thr URL is already out there, some people may still use http ... So I want the http to redirect to https ... No matter what way I try to fix this problem, I get a prompt for a password on http and then on https ... Which I do not want...

Can anyone tell me how they have this done??? I am drove nuts trying to figure this out...

    Re: SSL Question / Problem

My suggestion is to setup an IIS virtual directory that is listening on port 80, using the host header value of your site, that redirects to https://yoursiteurl . First thing you would need to do is to change the http port on the IIS virtual directory for your existing SharePoint site (something like 8080 will work). Make sure your new virtual directory listening on port 80 is only using anonymous authentication and make sure you don't extend it with SharePoint (of course).

I have done this many times and it works every time.

Thanks dggcoop!! I had read a previous post with this solution in it which you posted... The only part I was not doing correctly was setting the virtual directory on port 80 to use anonymous access... It totally slipped my mind to check this. Thanks, and the solution is perfect.

    Thanks
