Changing a columns width in a list in SharePoint Designer 2007

    Hi,

I am wondering if anyone could help me out with this minor but quite annoying problem. I have created a list, but because there is quiet a lot of text in some of the cells it changes the layout of the list, placing text in the first column in the centre of the cell, and all other information in all the other cells at the very top of its cell.

My question is how can I change this default setup? Shouldn't I be able to edit the list just by dragging the columns to fit the size I want and centre the text like you would do in other Web Parts? The list is just greyed out and therefore I am not able to select the elements in the list and adjusting the layout. I have tried selecting different things, but nothing seems to work.

    Thanks!

I think that I may have a similar issue, I have many fields in my NewForm and EditForm for a specific list, all of them are rendering at about 350px width...

I wish I could tell them to use 100% of their container (which would be a table cell)

Would love to know the answer to this.

    Sorry for Hijacking.
