SharePoint University

Id like to know if it is possible on WSS3.0 to have subsite accouncements shown along with the parent sites annoucements.  I have subsites for various committees that post news, Id like to have those annoucements also show up on the main page of the intranet portal.

Ideas?

SLMHC, What you can do is to use sharepoint Designer which means go to each page in question and then insert a Dataview webpart and then from the DataSource Lib pane connect to the announcement list in question and drag the data to the dataview webpart.

What i used was FlexListViewer at http://blogs.infosupport.com/porint/archive/2006/08/15/9865.aspx 
And after installing the webpart all you need is on each page you need an announcement displayed all you need is just give it the URL of the list.

Thanks for the pointer to this webpart.  It looks like it might be what I want after some customization.

Am I able to post multiple lists to this webpart? ie the main site will also post the news from the sales & marketing sites...

Also, can the view be adjusted?  the default is just a list of items in the news list.  Id like to apply a custom view to it.

Hi Dave,
      What do you mean if you would like to post multiple lists to this webpart. The webpart is suitable for any list like announcements etc..
All you need is install the webpart and add it to any site you need it for.And just point the URL of your main list and even you can have a custom XSLT to modify the view etc..
Regarding a custom list again just point to the URL of your custom list.
Do that by editing the webpart and Modify webpart

I want to take the annoucement lists from 2-3 (or more) subsites and have them integrated into the announcement list of the main site.

I also read about the XSLT customization but could not find where the default one resides on the server.

If you would like to merge different lists then i recommend use sharepoint Designer and make use of a Data View.
You can use sharepoint designer to plu to as many lists as you want
