Submitting new items in a custom list with no edit access

I have created a custom list in which I do NOT want anyone to edit items after posting them. Even their own. Now when I changed the edit access to "none", users could not even post new items. They have "Contribute" permission. Help please.

Can I hide the List View drop-down feature
